Welcome to Jason Brown Photography's Personal Gallery
Welcome to the new site for Jason Brown Photography's Personal Gallery, formerly known as Jason's Photo Gallery.
This new site will offer more content and is designed to be more interactive for our readers. Within these pages you will find my weekly Thoughts (below), which detail the recent goings-on in the life of my wife and I, as well as past Thoughts (Stories Archive, at left), which you may browse to relive or reflect upon certain times in our lives that may hold some interest for you. There is even a Search feature (at left) that will allow you to quickly locate articles of interest. Please note that some of the articles will have a "Read More" link at the bottom of them underneath the author's name. When you see that, click on the "Read More" to see the rest of the aritcle.
Another fun feature that you now have available is the ability to rate the articles that you read. Clicking "Read More" will take you to the full article, and from that page you can cast your vote for how good (or bad) a particular posting is. Maybe if I get enough negative comments I'll finally stop writing about golf? Nah.
As always, we will have pictures for you to view that visually support the things that I talk about in my Thoughts, and that we hope you will enjoy.
You now have the option of joining the site as a registered member (click on "Create an Account" in the upper left corner underneath the site logo). Once you do you will be able to do a number of neat things, including change the Theme of the site to make it more visually appealing for you. You've got to love that if you don't like websites with black backgrounds. I have pictures of the themes posted in the Photo Galleries section so you can easily find one you like. You can even change the theme as many times as you like. It will not alter the content of the site. You can do all of this from the "Your Account" page.
Once you are a member you will also have the option of posting comments in response to the things that you read herein. With any luck other readers will enjoy and comment about your postings, as well, and maybe we'll even get some discussions going!
Don't forget to check out the surveys on the right side of the home page here. I change them every week or so, and you can always browse through the prior surveys to see how other people have answered.
So without further ado, please enjoy our website. Be sure to click around to find all the exciting things that it has to offer. Membership is not required to experience everything that is available, but you will not be able to post comments until you join.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

I have a couple of stories to tell this week, which makes this quite an exciting week in my life.
Do you recall the trouble that I was having with Adobe’s Bridge program? Every time I would open it up it would “experience an error and need to close,” which made it effectively useless to me. I searched on-line for solutions, including going to Adobe Forums, to see if there was some solution out there.
None of the basic fixes I found worked. Not clearing the cache, not deleting the thumbnails, not resetting all the settings. I did finally find an article on Adobe that offered a number of steps to try to resolve the issue, one of which actually seemed to work.
I set up a new user profile in Windows and was able to get Bridge operating again. That was great, but what it also meant was that I needed to recreate all of my settings from my old profile, and that meant a lot of work. So I emailed Adobe’s tech support to see if they could help me out…

So today is election day, and a fairly historic one at that. Today we are either voting in a female vice president or an African American president. We are breaking through barriers all over the place.
And yet in California we are voting to create barriers. We have Proposition 8 on the ballot, where we are voting on a California Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman only, to eliminate the ability of same sex couples to marry. Why?
Why does it matter whether two males or two females want to get married and enjoy the same comfort and security that marriage affords a heterosexual couple? Why shouldn't they enjoy all the spousal priveleges that heterosexual couples enjoy? What purpose does that really serve?
One of the big arguments is that schools will start to teach that same sex marriage is okay. They are not; marriage is not a part of the standard curriculum. But even if it was, it's not going to make little Timmy or little Suzie suddenly decide to become gay...

Yes, I'm frustrated. The cause of my frustration is the same thing that had brought me much happiness over the last month or two, and that is doubling my frustration.
Adobe's Photoshop comes with a program called Bridge. Bridge displays the photographs that you have, and allows you to open photos from it directly into the main Photoshop program. It allows you to add keywords to the photographs to make them easily locatable, and also lets you rate the photos using stars or color coding. It is all I have used to access and view my photos since installing Photoshop CS3, but now something has gone incredibly wrong.
Since Thursday evening Bridge has been "encountering an error and need[ing] to close." I then choose whether to alert Microsoft to the program, and the program shuts down...

Let me start by saying that my back feels great. I actually went and hit golf balls at the range on Friday afternoon to give it a test, and although I got fatigued, the back felt fine overall. That was a very good thing, and just what I needed after this week.
Don't get the wrong idea; the week wasn't all bad, and had a number of positive developments. For one, I attended a "new patient meeting" at the chiropractor's office and won a free 30-minute massage. That was good. My odds of winning were about 50%, since only one other person attended, but it was still a good win.
I thought I had a problem with my Photoshop CS3 program, but that turned out be user error. I figured that out this morning, and that was a good thing....

I am pleased to report that I am virtually completely recovered from my back ailment. I am icing my back as I type this, and have continued to regularly do so, even though my back has been feeling better.
Thursday I went in to work in the morning and lasted less than an hour. The pain was so bad that I couldn't sit at my desk, and even standing was uncomfortable. I ended up conducting a couple of phone calls leaning on my desk trying to find a position that offered me some comfort.
I came home, and ended up on the ground on all fours in order to send a last few emails in comfort. From there I planted myself back on the couch to relax and rest and watch movies...
